    Re: Pen(s)

Both are pens that utilize a handle and a "nib." Traditional fountain pens must be dipped into an ink source before use; cartridge pens have a compartment that holds a tiny plastic container of ink which makes "dipping" unnecessary.

Actually, a fountain pen, as opposed to a pen, has or had a little sack made of rubber in the body which , when one lifted a small lever on the body that caused pressure on the sack, expelled the air and caused a semi vacuum, so that when one lowered the the lever with the pen nib immersed in the ink, it sucked up a quantity of ink, thus filling the pen. A cartridge pen is a pen which accepts plastic cartridges of ink.

A fountain pen has a vacuum system to pull ink into an internal chamber.
A cartridge pen is a fountain pen in which the ink is held in a replaceable cartridge.

    Re: Pen(s)

I don't think 'cartridge pen' is the name for it, just as you don't call a printer, a 'cartridge printer'.

It's fountain pen which uses refillable ink or replaceable cartridge ink.
