Re: a lot of or lots of

1.I eat a lot of chocolate (chocolate doesn't need to be plural when you are speaking of a general intake).

2.Due to the fact that she is putting on weight, she has decided to/had to reduce her food intake.

3.I am affected with red eyes (Congivitis). I suffer a severe ache in both of my eyes.

4.I jumped a red light and I think I was caught by a speed camera. Unfortunately, I might have to pay a fine of 500Dhs.

Number 4 is written in a particularly British manner and may not be appropriate outside the U.K.

In America we say that "I ran a red light."
Also, chocolates can be plural, but it's meaning changes. "I eat a lot of chocolates" means that you eat many pieces of chocolate. "I eat a lot of chocolate" means that you eat many things which have chocolate in them.

    .

"Pink eye" is the phrase used here.

It isn't, as jkrause indicates. It depends on whether you are talking about the substance or the small sweets made from the substance.

and which preposition is apt in the sentence below?

You are perfectly in/on time. Either - "in time" means you are not too late for something; "on time" means you have arrived at the time you are expected.

    Muktha.

I have severe pain in both of my eyes.

Is it wrong to use 'ache' instead of pain?

Re: a lot of or lots of

In relation to conjunctivitis, yes. It is painful.

An ache in the eye is more likely to be strain in the muscles that move the eye.
