    a story from the bible

I was talking about a story from the bible and I used the present tense: such as Maria magdalena goes to see Jesus in the house of the rich man.
Can I use the present tense or a better tense would be the past tense?
    Thx
    T

The Present Simple can be used to describe a succession of events in the past. It makes a narrative more colourful. This application of this tense is called historic or dramatic Present.
