    remaking of six sentences 11

    Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough verify the remaking of the following six sentences, using different collocations with the verb “put” instead of the italicized words and phrases?

1.1. I would like to be put in connection with your dean.
1.2. I would like to be put through to your dean.

2.1. In our district fruit trees send out buds and leaves very early.
2.2. In our district fruit trees put forth buds and leaves very early.

3.1. Don’t postpone your work till tomorrow.
3.2. Don’t put off your work till tomorrow.

    4.1. She talked like a machine-gun. I just couldn’t utter a word.
    4.2. She talked like a machine-gun. I just couldn’t put in a word.

5.1. To be able to buy that fur-coat you must cut your expenses at once.
5.2. To be able to buy that fur-coat you must put down your expenses at once.

6.1. Forget it, or there will be no end of torture for both of us.
6.2. Put it out of your head, or there ill be no end of torture for both of us.

    Thank you for your efforts.

    Regards

    V.

I am not sure about the second one, but my feeling is that it is okay. I am not totally sure about the fourth one, but it does not seem natural. More likely: "She talked like a machine-gun. I couldn't get a word in edgewise."

    Hi RonBee,

Thank you for your thorough editorial work as well as for your relevant modifications.

There is a new remaking of 5.1. :

To be able to buy that fur-coat you shouldn’t put yourself to overdone expenses at once.

    Regards
