If you take into account an exclamation such as "What a beautiful flower!", beauty stands for flower; so "What a beauty! is correct.

    Both are correct.

What beauty there is in a flower.
What a beauty that flower is.

    Let me analyze:

What beauty there is in a flower would be There is ......... beauty in a flower.

Is "beauty" synonym to "quality"? What words could be equivalent to "what" when answering? (see above). Could I use "such a"? or Is it used here as an uncountable noun?

Now, tell me why an exclamation such as "What flower there is in that vase." does not simply sound.

I could say: There is a beautiful flower in that vase. There is such a beautiful flower in that vase.

You would never say: There is flower in that vase. But if "flower" changed its basic meaning, I mean if it became something like "the core of fragrance", for example, I wonder if it couldnīt be used as if it were an uncountable.
