    "have thought" or "thought"

    Dear teacher,
For a sentence like this" Since then, I __________ about Janpan a lot." Is "have thought " the only possible answer or I can use " thought" instead? Any difference between two answers?

"have thought". See any of the many recent discussions of the present perfect tense with adverbials of time.

You have not stopped thinking about Japan, it must be going on now. So the present perfect 'have thought' will be more appropriate here.
