    walk the floor (idiom)

    To walk one direction and then the other across the floor, again and again; pace.

    Ex: Mr. Black walked/paced the floor, trying to reach a decision.
    Ex: The sick baby had his mother walking/pacing the floor all night.
    Ex: Mrs. Black's toothache hurt so much that she got up and walked/paced the floor.
