    Checks written from...

    Hi!

Would you help me with this sentence?

"Checks written from semiofficial government accounts"

How should I understand the word accounts in this context?

    - department
    - money held at bank

    Thank you.

    N.

Given the quotation in full (See The Price of Fear p146), accounts seems to mean bank accounts.
