What do the following expressions mean:
(right) down to the bottom/floor/mat
It is mentioned quite often in a stock car racing context. Here is an example taken from it:
Squeeze, squeeze, down to the mat, down to the mat, drive to the wall. Out to the wall, out to the wall, there you go. Good lap, good lap! All right now slow down, down the back stretch.
And squeeze, by he way, is it short for "squeeze the throttle" or something like that?
