    Forum

    Hi,
Could someone please help me correct this text? Thank you.

Forum is the Latin name of the place where the city’s inhabitants used to get together to state their views and opinions and make their ideas known. Insults and verbal aggressions were not allowed – these take place on the maidan, an ancient Oriental word which among others describes the market of the city
In the name of our Latin origin please stick to the topic being discussed and try to address the message not the messenger.

The Forum is the Latin name of the place where the city's inhabitants used to get together to state their views and opinions [in order] to make their ideas known. Insults and verbal aggressions (See note), which took place on the maidan, an ancient Oriental word used to describe the city's market, were not permitted in the Forum.

Note, it's a good word, but is there a better one you can think of?

I guess I could say verbal threats or verbal attacks but I don’t know which is better. I would choose verbal threats. Am I right?
