    Acknowledgment

    Hi,

At the first or in the end of every paper, there is usually section "Acknowledgment". I think that

    1. If I write "Acknowledgment", I thank only one person,
    2. If I write "Acknowledgments", I thank some different people.

Would you tell me if my thought is correct?

    Thanks.

Hi, if it's the university paper, you'd write "References" or "Bibliography".
Any previous papers that you refer to in the text are listed alphabetically by author under that heading. Use the plural "References" even if you have only one reference.
Look here for a Harvard referencing guide:

    Re: Acknowledgment

    Hi Dr. Raymott,

Thank you much for your idea. But I guess you may have misunderstood me.

I meant that "Acknowledgment(s)" is a section in which I thank someone, it is neither "References" nor "Bibliography" which we cite related books or articles.

Please, look at the following structure:

    1. Introduction
    ..............

    2. Main results
    ...............

    3. Conclusion

    .................

    Acknowledgment(s?)
The author sincerely thanks the referees for their careful reading and valuable comments.

    References
    .................

Pleased to hear from you more.

I think the first sentence should have been said this way

At the first or at the end of every paper,......

OK, you'd still write "Acknowledgments" even if you only wanted to acknowledge one person.

    Hi e2e4,

    Thank for your comment.

But in this situation, I meant "in the end" is "in some last parts of the article". And if we used "at the end", it would be "References". So, I hope "in the end" is still accepted.

    Do you agree with me?

I thought that, because it's like obituaries in the newspaper, in that it's just the title to a section. But I've seen it done both ways.

Hi Le, it is actually "at the end" (place) . In the end (time).

in the end Eventually; ultimately: All will turn out well in the end.

We wrote a "thanks" at the end of the report.

In the end we couldn't go to London.
