    only and just

    Dear teachers,
I met the following question yesterday, please help.
________ by doing it will you learn.

    A. Only B. Just
As we all know, "Only" can be used here, but I wanna know why "Just" is not correct.

    Thanks a million

    Re: only and just

Only by doing = this is the only way to achieve the result
Just by doing it = there is no need to employ other means

    Re: only and just

...but I wanna know why "Just" is not correct.

...but I would like to know why...

At a bare minimum in a semi-formal learning environment:

...but I want to know why...

It helps posters, before responding, to see your real level of English skills in your ability to write a question, as opposed to parroting chat room lingo.

    Re: only and just

    Hi,
Isn't the correct way "...you will learn."?
    Thanks.

In your original sentence you have emphatic inversion.
    e.g. Only now do I realize ...
