    Usage of "would have had to"

    Dear Teachers,

    Could you please tell me when and how to use "would have had to"? I know about "would have+p.p." but why "had to"?

    Please explain.

    Well...I think 'would have had to...' is...

    'would have' + 'have to(must)' = 'would have had to'
    (Do you know the meaning of 'have to(must)'?)

    Precisely.

    I would have had to cancel my holidays if I hadn't recovered from flu in time. [But luckily, I recovered from flu in time and didn't have to cancel my holidays.]
