    Earn Their Pay

    Dear friends and Teachers,

    1. I guess I imagined selling drugs being like in the movies, drinking champagne, hot-tubbing with honeys, and cruising in customized Escalades while watching the cash roll in. But here I am, freezing my ass off. I've got to say, these drug-dealing scumbags really earn their pay.

    - Does "earn their pay" here mean "earn a lot of money"?

    Thanks a million!

    Re: Earn Their Pay

No. The stress is on "earn". It means "in order to get their pay they really have to do some real work in hostile conditions". It's another way of saying 'it's not such an easy job as I thought'.
