    Hi,

    Does the below sentence sound right? Kindly advise

    Yes, we have received the cheque of S$xxx on 2 Aug 2008 as the full settlement of advisory fees for the 5.55M A&A shares deal.

    When you use a date you don't use the present perfect tense. Instead use the simple past:

    Yes, we received the cheque for S$xxx on 2 Aug 2008 as the full settlement of the advisory fees for the 5.55M A&A shares deal.

    for the above sentence, why you use for instead of of? any reason? kindly explain. Thanks!

    Hi,

    If you use "the cheque + an amount of money", then it must be "the cheque for...." (not "of")
