    mediate

    Hello everyone

I'd like to ask what "mediate" mean in the following passage:

In short, the colors mediated to the camera through the low infrared band suggest the existence of realms that may be distinguished from one another by shorter and shorter wavelengths as frequencies rise.

Does "mediate" mean something like "transmit" here?

It seems like a very strange use of the word.

    Re: mediate

    ( - I agree with you that it's a strange usage.)

I think it is used here (erroneously, in my view) to mean conveyed or transmitted.
