    Smile Nummy, nummy, num=?

    Episode:

A father, Homer, was trying to feed his little baby, Maggie, who still couldn't speak any word but crawl.

Homer said to Maggie, " Come on, Maggie. Nummy, nummy, num".

    Question:

Nummy, nummy, num=? Open your mouth, Maggie?

    Thanks in advance!

Are you sure he wasn't saying, "yummy yummy yum."
'yummy' is what parents say to their children, meaning that food looks/ tastes delicious; and so, as with Homer, to encourage the child to eat, not to miss out of this 'yummy food'.

    Hello David L.

Thank you for your help. The line I offered is correct.

Please read the diologue available online, if necessary.
    Homer Alone

Now, I can assume Homer might coin it. It is meaningless.

    Re: Nummy, nummy, num=?

Many parents use the baby-talk version of "yummy" and say "nummy" in order to tempt their child to eat. "Oooh, look at these nummy strained peas.....Mmmmm....if you don't eat them, Mommy will.....c'mon, open up.....nummy, nummy....!" (Spoken while waving a spoonful of godawful green mush in front of the baby.)

    How funny! Thank you, Ouisch.

Is 'nummy' the variation of 'yummy'?
