not sure the meaning of this sentence

Q:How do you get a Superstar to defect to the other brand?

A:(1)If they keep losing a match or just arent being used, they will send you an email asking to join your show. (2)If one of your superstars is unhappy, you will see a News story about a possible defection. If the rival GM wants to purchase the superstar, you'll lose her to the other show.

At first I thought the question is about how my own brand superstar turns to other brand. But the answer makes me doubt as the first part of the answer is not related to the question but about my brand getting a defected superstar from another brand.
So, does "get a superstar to defect to" = a superstar defects from other brand to us?

    Hi redgiant,

There are a few words concerning the expression in question.

defect (v) = not working properly; having something wrong with. Also: to leave a cause or situation (e.g. a job) for another.

    to defect to

    1. To disown allegiance to one's country and take up residence in another: a Soviet citizen who defected to Israel.
    2. To abandon a position or association, often to join an opposing group: defected from the party over the issue of free trade.
