Smile Do native English speakers say 'delicioso'?

    Delicioso!
Do native English speakers say ' Delicioso!', which is an Italian word?

    Thanks!

    No, they don't say that.

Re: Do native English speakers say 'delicioso'?

I will qualify 2006's answer by saying that some people might use it, but it is usually in a colloquial situation, and with an element of humour or sarcasm. It is not in common usage.

Agreeing with Anglika. My mom, for one, has no Italian blood whatsoever, but if she finds a certain dish or meal particularly enjoyable she will proclaim it "delicioso!" as a means of emphasis.

Thank you, Ouisch. I asked this because Lisa, the kid of The Simpsons, proclaimed it when she was eating pizza. But I was not sure whether it is common for native speakers to say that.

Re: Do native English speakers say 'delicioso'?

Wow. I said it just today!

But then, I am a bit of a "Food Network" fan, where there is a show called "Simply Delicioso" so perhaps I'm improperly influenced.

(I thought it was a Spanish word because of this show.)

It is Spanish. Italian is delizioso /delitsiozo/

    Barb_D & Raymott,

Thank you for the correction. I had thought it was an Italian word.
