    Smile too moved to speak

In the sentence below, what do "too moved" and "touched to his soul" mean?

Touched to his soul, he stands too moved to speak.

    Re: too moved to speak

Someone has done or said something that has deeply affected him, to such a degree that he cannot even speak.

Strong emotion leads to constriction of the throat muscles, and prevents the action of speaking.
