    to "take someone by the hand" is an expression that means to lead them or to show them.

    I had to take Mary by the hand and explain the computer program.

    I took Danny by the hand to the doctor.

    Is that what you mean?

    Oh - you can also "take something by hand" if you hand write it,(write it by hand) as opposed to type or text it.
