    Smile crack up=? (3 Questions)

I am often asked if the Olympic village - the vast restaurant and housing conglomeration that hosts the world's top athletes for the duration of the Games - is the sex-fest it is cracked up to be. My answer is always the same: too right it is. I played my first Games in Barcelona in 1992 and got laid more often in those two and a half weeks than in the rest of my life up to that point. That is to say twice, which may not sound a lot, but for a 21-year-old undergraduate with crooked teeth, it was a minor miracle.
    Q1: crack up =?

I fail to find a suitable entry for it from a dictionary's definition. Which one is it?

    crack up, Informal.
a.to suffer a mental or emotional breakdown.
b.to crash, as in an automobile or airplane:
c.to wreck an automobile, airplane, or other vehicle.
d.to laugh or to cause to laugh unrestrainedly:
crack up - Definitions from Dictionary.com

    Q2: get laid= relax?

Q3: Can I understand 'crooked teeth' at its face value? Or does it refer to being dishonest?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, Daffodil!

Q1: If something is not all it's cracked up to be, it is not as good as people say it is. Her latest book isn't all it's cracked up to be. I wouldn't bother reading it if I were you. It's a good restaurant, but it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Q2: To get laid is to have sexual intercourse. (slang)

Q3: Yes! I'd take it at face value. The 21 year old had sexual intercourse several times, in spite of having unattractive teeth! (Not as attractive as a 21 year old with perfectly straight teeth!)

    Cheers,
    Amigo

    Hi Amigo,

Thank you very much! I got it.

That is to say twice, which may not sound a lot, but for a 21-year-old undergraduate with crooked teeth, it was a minor miracle.

What does 'that is to say twice' mean here? What does 'twice' refer to? Have twice sex experiences? I don't think so.

"That is to say/ twice", OR "That is /to say twice"?

I learned 'that is to say' means 'in other words'.

Could you please give me a hand again? Thanks!

    Daffodil,

I am certainly no expert on the frequency of sexual intercourse for 21 year old men who have crooked teeth, but it would be safe to say that this guy wasn't very accomplished in the area of making love to women!

Let's paraphrase his accomplishments! 'I got laid more often in those two and a half weeks than in the rest of my life up to that point. In other words, twice! This may not sound like a lot, but for a 21-year-old undergraduate with crooked teeth, it was a minor miracle.

    Cheers,
    Amigo
