    It refers to selective breeding. If, for example, you are a cat fancier and you note that some of the kittens in a particular litter have undesirable traits (perhaps their eyes are the wrong color), then you purposely do not use them for breeding purposes.

    This is probably what the original post was about; I can't think what else it could be. But this is breeding something out.
