Post a finger-tip search of the rubble

From Fresh pictures of arson mansion family following discovery of two bodies | Mail Online

In the text below, what does "finger-tip" mean?

Fifteen-year-old Kirstie's conversations on a social networking site are thought to have been interrupted, possibly by a power cut, at 1am on Tuesday.

This was three hours before the fire tore through the 1.2million house.

The news emerged on Friday as specialist teams began a finger-tip search of the rubble.

They will go through the rubble, sifting it by hand.

They didn't just look. They got down on their hands and knees and sifted through the rubble with their fingertips.

It's an indication of the scale of the search. They're not specifically looking for finger tips, but they're meant to notice and inspect anything the size of a finger-tip or bigger - that is, it's a fine-scaled search, not just a quick look through the building.
