    primarily, however, persist

    Dear teachers,

The following is part of a cloze. I can't decide some of the choices so please help me.

In college I was a psychology major. One of my advisors suggested I chage my major to English _____1_______ (primarily, probably)becasue I watned to become a high achool teacher. She told me I'd have much difficlty finding a job teaching high school psychology _____2______ (a. but, b. however) that english teachers were in demand. Well I listened politely, but I _____3________(a. remained, a. persisted) in psychology because it was my passion.

    The key to No.1 is "a", No.2 is "a"and No.3 is "a".
My question is can I replace each "a"with "b" in each sentence?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.]

In college I was a psychology major. One of my advisors suggested I chage my major to English primarily (firstly - the important reason) becasue I watned to become a high achool teacher.

She told me I'd have much difficlty finding a job teaching high school psychology but, (on the other hand) that english teachers were in demand.

Well I listened politely, but I remained (stayed) in psychology because it was my passion.

Here are my choices. Do the same with your choices.
