    Im still not sure whether its right to drop the pronoun that in this sentence:
    - The teacher suggested that we study the whole book.

    Here you can not drop "that" because it is acting as a coordinating conjuction (not pronoun)to join the relative clause "we study the whole book"

    I would tend to agree with M.R.M.-two subjects, two verbs = need for a a coordinating conjuction (that). .......to the best of my recollection.
