    the correct answer for an Exercise of There is / there are

    exercise number 17 it say taht the right answer is:

    there aren`t enough police on the streets

    I woul say that the right answwr is there isn`t becausethe noun " police" is uncountable

    can you explain it to me please

    "Police" generally takes a plural verb.

    A single "police" would usually be referred to as a policeman or policewoman.
