    Question An Important Question

    Hi there,

My question is about grammer. Do we (the english leaners) have to memorise all the grammer rules? Do english people speak just like the grammer? I've heard even english people make mistakes in spoken language. Then it's not really necessary for us to memorise grammer rules or speak just like the grammer

    Re: An Important Question

It's not like when you speak in English you have to be thinking about the grammar, it's just something you learn so you can be able to create sentences and be fluent, and then it just happens.

It happens for all speakers of any language. Grammar is the easiest way to start creating from short sentences to large sentences and then fluent conversation.

    Re: An Important Question

Of course you will not be able to memorize all the English grammar rules!
You can try to rely on your "ear" to help you. But if you don't speak it every day, that may be difficult.

You will use 20% of the rules 80% of the time. So concentrate on those important rules.

    For example:

Do you know which one is correct?

    I have eaten today
    I have ate today.

When you can explain which one is correct, then you should not have problems.
