    My bike rides well

    My bike rides well.

I read this sentence from a webpage. Obviously it means 'My bike is nice to ride'. But which of the two sentences do you native speakers prefer to use?

    Thank you in advance.

Have a look here https://www.usingenglish.com/forum/g...eads-well.html. It's a rather long and rather argumentative read, which should nevertheless answer your question.

As a possible addition to that discussion (I think I participated, but don't have time to retrace my steps) it seems to me that the user of that phrase is trying to 'upgrade' the reference to cycling (is it a commercial web-site?); as I find the use of the middle voice more natural in the expression 'this car drives well' than it is in the expression 'this bike rides well'.
