    Question How to read?

"Grief is a gradual process. Two steps forward, one step back." (balance-a rhetorical device)

"Love grows from the rich loam of forgiveness; that mongrels make good dogs; that the evidence of God exists in the roundness of things"

Tell me what do the sentences mean to you?

    Thanks!!!

Recovery from loss is not a smooth process. It is not easy, and it doesn't necessarily take place in predictable steps.

I'm not sure what that means. What do you think it means?

Besides, one would have to read Wally Lamb's I Know This Much Is True .
Maybe this will shed some light.
