    Like What

    Dear friends and Teachers,

A: I can show you some ways to do that.
    B: Like what?

    - Can I say "for example?" or "for instance?" instead of "like what?"?

    Thanks a million!

    NamSteven

    Re: Like What

    Hi namsteven

As a Brit, but not a teacher, I would personally regard "Like what?" as a touch offensive.

I would prefer an answer such as "Such as?"

    Hope this helps

"For example?" and "For instance?" are good too.

'Like what?' suggests '... and I bet you can't provide an example'.
