Smile What are you doing [[up]]?

    Scenario:

An American man woke up at midnight and found his wife not lying on the bed but sitting alone near the window. He asked her, "What are you doing up? "

    Question:

    Does 'up' mean 'get up'?

What are you doing up =Why did you get up? And what are you doing?

    ****
    Thanks in advance!

You've worked it out yourself. :)

He wants to know why she's not in bed. Why did she get up? What is she doing?
