    Smile You're my Sintine Chapel=?

    Context:

A FBI female agent was asked to be the face of FBI. She was too masculine so her supervisor found an image consultant for her.

When the consultant met the agent, he said, "You're my Mona Lisa, Sistine Chapel. I will find the sculpture in the stone..."

    Questions:

    Q1: Sistine Chapel=?

Q2: the sculpture in the stone= a diamond in the rough? I'll make you a beauty? Is this expression usual?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure about this but... Finding the sculpture in the stone COULD mean that the consultant will reveal or bring forth the unseen/unappreciated beauty in the female agent.

When someone says "you're my Mona Lisa, my Sistene Chapel" this MIGHT signify an important iconic standing perhaps...

He says that he is the artist who will turn her, the raw material, into a thing of beauty. No, these are not usual expressions.

The Sistine Chapel is the famous chapel in the Vatican next to St. Peters. Michelangelo, the great Florentine painter, painted the whole ceiling of the chapel with Biblical themes.
It's also the place where they lock up the cardinals to elect a new Pope.

Also, the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the Mona Lisa are masterpieces - everyone who knows them can name the artist. So as well as saying that he's going to make her a thing of beauty he's saying that the work he does on her will make his own reputation - that she is an opportunity for him to show how good he is.
