should I use sour grapes in this situation?

A candidate makes some poor excuses for his loss in a legislative election and continues to blame other newly elected legislative councillors. He disregards the public 's call for respecting the result and still thinks he deserves a win.

Is " Sour grapes" a suitable word for him? Or do you have any other word to describe such a loser?

P.S If you find mistakes above, pls correct them, I appreciate your help~

    Hello Red,

"Sour grapes" would mean that the candidate had said "Well, I didn't want to win anyway. It's a rotten job and I've much better things to do with my time." It thus implies that the previous object of desire is not worth having.

"A poor loser" might be one alterrnative.

    Best wishes,
