    The importance of Grammar?

The importance of grammar can be derived from the proficiencies developed by the language curriculum. (Jack Richards)

    * What does he mean? I can't get it clearly.

You're not alone. I suspect he means something like "The importance of teaching standard/formal English in schools is reflected in the increased employment chances that it gives young people". If so, he's from the school of 'thought' that holds that when you have an idea all you've got to do is spew out a number of related words and somehow, magically, people will understand.

Thanks B. It's a relieve to know I'm not alone in this.

I also have the same understanding as you do but I can hardly put it on words. Thanks for the BIG help.
