    Not so much seek to be...as to!":;'}]

    Hello dear teachers, can you please tell me what the lines in bold mean?

    Lord make me an instrument of your peace,
    Where there is hatred let me sow love.
    Where there is injury, pardon.
    Where there is doubt, faith.
    Where there is despair, hope.
    Where there is darkness, light.
    And where there is sadness, joy.

    O divine master grant that I may
    Not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
    To be understood as to understand;
    To be loved as to love
    For it is in giving that we receive-
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
    And it's in dying that we are born to eternal life.
    Amen.

    And as second question, what do you call these:!":;'}]

    Many thanks,

    Do you mean as a group [punctuation marks] or individually?

    Many thanks,

    Could you tell me the meaning of first part: Not so much seek to be consoled. Does it mean let me have consolation so that I can give others or means let me not to need consolation!! If this question is so crazy, just leave it.

    And I mean those marks individually. I put them here again:

    !
    :
    ;
    "
    '
    }
    ]

    Thank you

    Neither. The prayer is that rather than seeking consolation for "myself", "I" would like to be the one to offer consolation, that rather than being the one who want to be understood, "I" can offer understanding. It is a prayer asking for "me" to be active in assisting others, not to be the one who seeks assistance.

    And I mean those marks individually. I put them here again:

    ! exclamation mark
    : colon
    ; semi-colon
    " apostrophes, quotation marks
    ' apostrophe
    } curly bracket
    ] square bracket

    Thank you
