This energy drink checks me up

This is how i heard it said on radio.
Is it right and what does it mean?
Person who said it was very happy with it because it enabled him to work at nights without feeling tired.

Was it a UK station? That's not an expression I've met. It could have been 'keeps me up', but that expression is usually used in a pejorative sense: 'The noise from the night club keeps me up until 02.30'. The phrasal verb I'd expect with the word 'keep' is this: 'This energy drink keeps me awake'.

There are other '<verb>s me up' possibilities - none of them very likely:
    • cracks me up - makes me laugh
    • gees me up - encourages me to work harder
    • bungs me up - slows down my digestion
    • ... but this is getting rather silly
