    three questions from me

    Hello guys,
thank you ahead for your tips and ideas.

    A few questions:

    1) What is the act of recommending cleints to companies called? I just remember using this expression in my business english classes but it slipped my mind.
Its recommendation conducted mainly amongst people by word of mounth. It may be a bussines english term.

As an example of such an action: I call a particular car service because my friend recommended me to it.

    2) Is this example sentence correct?

I come as far as from Germany.

I am trying to express the situation that i come from a place that is as far as (for example) Germany.

    3) Is this sentence correct?

How have you been since we saw each other last time?

The collocation see (or saw) each othersounds gritty and makes me a goose flesh hence I would like to replace it with another less irritating expression. What could it be?

"I come as far as from Germany."
I am trying to express the situation that i come from a place that is as far as (for example) Germany.

"I come from as far away as Germany is from here."
    or
"I come from as far away as here to Germany."

    3) Is this sentence correct?

How have you been since we saw each other last time?

The collocation see (or saw) each othersounds gritty and makes me a goose flesh hence I would like to replace it with another less irritating expression. What could it be?

    How about:
"How have you been since we last spoke?"

May I say: "I come as far away as from germany" then?

You see, we use: "I walk as far as to the hill."
I'd like to use a parralel to that by using : "I came as far away as from the hill" or should I rather use: "I came as far away as the hill is" ?

Recommendation is the term I know for this.

    Re: three questions from me

I come from as far away as Germany.

I avoided this, because devoid of context, for example, persons at a conference come from all over - you come from London, some from Scotland, but "I come from as far as Germany."

So I tried to include the idea that there were 3 referential points - here, where I do come from, and Germany.

As it stands, with the latest post, I think the context changes what jirikoo is really seeking!

David L., you are right. I am seeking to convey the situation when I really come (or right now coming) from Germany and want to emphasize it is Germany and it is a long distance to the place i come (or I am coming) from.

There are only referntial points: here and Germany

Is the phrase: I am coming from as far away as Germany correct then?

The place I have come from is as far from here as Germany is.

    Re: three questions from me

PS - "Referral" may be the word you were looking for in your first question.

    Re: three questions from me

    Barb-D:
You may have noticed, in my not addressing this part, that it was because I couldn't come up with a word for this 'whole process ' - 'consultation' wasn't right; and I'm not sure - with reference to car servicing - that 'referral' is the word. Isn't it just, 'my friend recommended you/your service centre' ?

    As for (2):
I broke my 'at the back of my mind' rule: always ask for clarification when a sentence is given in the absence of sufficient context!

With the information we now have, who wants to tackle 2?
