    hey i was wondering what the characteristics of Standard English are. I was enable to find them.

    If you mean "Standard" as in Grammar, then Michael Swan's Practical English Usage is a great resource. If you mean "standard" as in how the average native English speaker uses language, then TV sitcoms are a good resource.

    Standard English is the type of English you read in a contemporary novel, whether written in UK, US, Australia. Although the vocabulary will be different, you can expect the grammar to sound correct to the ears of most of the world's native speakers, unless there is some atypical dialogue or it's an experimental novel. It is the English which is found in good quality English Grammar books written in the last 20 years or so by native speakers. It is the English written on this site by most native English teachers and moderators. You could check here:
