Will you have something to drink?

Do you usually use this phrase, "Will you have something to drink?" when you offer someone something to drink?

And, if that's the case, what kind of nuance does it have?
    Does it sound somewhat rude?

    Thank you in advance.

    It's fine, and perfectly polite.

Re: Will you have something to drink?

    Hi-

I think "will you have something to drink" is used mainly in offering something alcoholic. If you're not sure the person drinks alcohol, or if they want an alcoholic drink that day, you might ask this question. It isn't rude: in fact, it's a nice way to give people a chance to refuse the drink.

Generally, if you are offering them something to drink, you'd ask "Would you like something to drink?" or "Can I get you something to drink?".

    I hope this makes sense!

    Take care,
    Mary
