    Need an idiom

Hi, I'm new to this forum, right now I am struggling through a translation of a sci-fi text into English. The text has many idioms in it that I can't pick up an equivalent for.

For example, when someone's saying an idiom (in the language of the original) that means that someone's ship has crushed what would a native English speaker say?
Of course, I can just write: It appears, their ship has crushed. But I want it to be more colloquial.

Can any native speaker help me with this?

    Welcome to the forums.

Sorry - just need to be sure of what you mean. Do you mean the ship crashed or that the ship was crushed?
