    correct sentence

    a cold is the common name for one kind of upper respiratory infection, being caused by a virus
    or
    infection caused by a virus
    or
    is caused by a virus
    or
    and caused by a virus

    which one is the best


    in a pine forest sprinkled with birch trees, the lush growth suddenly appears

    or forest, being sprinkled
    forest, it is sprinkled
    forest, and sprinkled

    Not a teacher.

    I would say that for the first one, "infection caused by a virus" would fit the best and sound the most natural.

    For the second, the original phrase is the best wording.

    Is there something which follows 'being caused by a virus'? There is no full stop (period). If there is it could change the sense of the phrase.
    I agree with the deebo about the second 'sentence'.

    It would help if you used the punctuation. That way there would be no doubt as to whether it is a complete sentence or not.
