    can someone explain "in the end" and "at the end" ?

    and please explain me the difference between these phrases

    Mostly, "at the end" refers to a time or place.
    'His house is at the end of the street.'
    'There was a big surprise at the end of the movie.'
    'He gets paid at the end of each month.'


    "in the end" is mostly used to mean 'finally, ultimately, eventually'.
    'The was a lot of concern about his proposal and a lot of questions were asked, but in the end the committee voted to approve it.'

    Sometimes "in the end" can refer to a place.
    'We have to drill a hole in the end of the post.'
