Question In doing so vs In so doing

"This book shows you how the differences between well-performed and bad-performed analyses. In doing so, we will examine..."

I've come across both "In doing so..." and "In so doing..." Is any of them better, worse, preferred, or is it just a matter of personal preferences? (The former wins in google scholar, but the difference is not that big.)

    Best,

"This book shows you the differences between well-performed and badly-performed analyses. In doing so... In doing what?

In showing you the differences. This is a standard phrase which I have seen in many texts. Look here: "in doing so" - Google Scholar

In that case it should read, 'In doing so it(the book) examines...'

Got your point, thanks. But what about the difference between "in doing so" and "in so doing"?
