    hokey pokey motions

I have a question about the hokey pokey motions

Why do one put the right foot away from the body when one says"You put your right foot in"
Shouldn't "in" be inward, toward your body and not away?

"You put your right foot out"
Why is out toward one's body and not away from one's body?

    Re: hokey pokey motions

The dancers stand in a circle; forwards from each dancer is into the middle of the circle.
