    Question 2 linguistics questions

1- would you plz explain "about language " and "in language ", and what methods and approaches are for "about language" and what are for "in language"?

2- what's difference between ''use" and "usage" in learning language, and which methods are for "use" and others are for "usage"?

    Thank you,

    Smile Re: 2 linguistics questions

    Hello,

I am sorry for bothering you.

Some metods such as "GTM"- Grammer Translation Method- give knowledge about language, and some methods such as '' Direct Method" don't talk about language, they use language and language is not usage. I'd like to know which methods are dealing with use language rather than usage because I dont know what the difference between use and usage is.

I would appreciate it if you can help me.

    Thank you,
    Taghavi

    Re: 2 linguistics questions

Use here is a verb and usage is the noun form of that verb. Does that clarify it for you?

We pronounce the verb form of use as "youze." It can also be a noun (pronounced "yuce") but in the sentence above, to use [youze] it as a noun would have been confusing, so the writer chose the alternate noun form of usage [you-sidge].
