    Smile in a Victorian home

Hi! The paragraphs I quoted as below is from The Daily Mail.

Was 'Victorian' featured 'puritan values? Thanks!

    Dear Bel
It's 4.50am on a Sunday and I am in my office writing to you. I was brought up in a 'Victorian', very religious home with no shows of affection and puritan values.

My parents thought that getting a job as a postman would be 'good steady employment' - no encouragement to study.

I joined the forces when conflict raged in Northern Ireland and tried various things when I came out. Now, aged nearly 50, I have my own successful business.

In this case, yes, rather restrictive and highly moral. Though if the writer is only 50, his family was hardly Victorian.

However, "Victorian values" can also be taken to mean that you work hard, save hard, do not get into debt, and lead a moral life.
