    What does this sentence mean?

What would you think the following sentence mean?

Id give considerable to see the old sinner fairly caught, but he is too deep.

    Thank you in advance.

Are you sure you have copied this sentence correctly? It seems there is a word missing after "considerable".

This sentence, with 'considerable' used as a noun, sounds like a West Country dialect. It means, 'I'd give a lot (whether money, time or effort) if it helped the authorities/law to catch him.'

'deep' has the meaning of 'profound or penetrating in awareness or understanding', or simply, 'he's too cunning and too smart to get caught '
