    Please assist. Do you know what is this phrase " Lost for words" means?

    The speaker can't think of anything to say in response. He may be shocked or surprised or for some other reason completely unable to think of anything appropriate to say.

    "Tongue-tied" is another similar condiiton.

    "When she told me that she had run away with my best friend, I was lost for words."
