    Meaning of this sentence

    And all that, if you please, has been accomplished by a few hundred million creatures who enjoyed not one single advantage over their enemies except the divine gift of Reason.

    A translated version says it means "besides the gift of Reason, human has had other advantages over other enemies", I doubt, I thought it should be "Gift of Reason has been the only advantage the human over their enemies"

    so would you tell me the truth?

    You are correct. The gift of [complex] reasoning is what differentiates man from other animals.
